Sitting at breakfast Sunday morning before we started our day skiing down the mountain, I noticed Brandon not eating his food. This didn’t faze me as we went out the night before and I just figured he kept going to the bathroom because his belly was a little upset. Little did I know…
We had already done one run and we were getting back on the lift to do the second run of the day. We jumped off the lift and started our way down the run “Four O’clock”. It’s obviously one of my favorites now! We had only been skiing down for a few minutes when Brandon yells at me from the other side of the run to come over there to take a picture. I say “No” of course very quickly “You come over here!” You see, I had to go back up hill a little bit to get over to him. As he was making his point quite known that he wanted me on that side, I started pushing my way over and uphill. He was right, it made for what I thought was going to be a better picture because the whole town of Breckenridge was in the background as was the entire rest of the run behind us. It was a perfect “picture”.
I turn around and start smiling at Mike (Brandon’s dad) who is what I am assuming, taking the picture. Brandon takes his skis off, and I immediately say “what are you doing??” But very calmly he just says “Oh, I need to turn around so we can have that as our background”. Well I believed him and turned back around and continued smiling. All of a sudden, Brandon gets down on one knee and pulls out a ring. I immediately say “Oh my gosh! What are you doing?!” Once I realized what was actually happening I took off my goggles (which were filling up with tears). I was trying to hug him and forgot I was still in my skis; well I fell to the ground. Once we got the skis off me, I realized what was happening and was crying and laughing, and just so many emotions! Some guy actually skied up to us as we were on the ground and I was crying and asked us if we needed him to call ski patrol because he thought I was hurt. I laughed and said no, then yelled out “I’m engaged!” He was so excited as he skied down the mountain. That made it that much better though.
Here are some of the pictures and the video that Mike was taking which at the time I thought was just a regular old picture.

So after that was all over with, we still had to ski down the rest of the mountain…
