We Have No Ceiling!

So we drove by the house again tonight to check it out. I was really nervous to go in just because I was scared they hadn’t done anything new since last time we checked. We drove up and saw the huge dumpster outside the house (its next to the porta poty) was completely full! I had high hopes after that!

So we walked in and this is what we saw standing at the front door. They are replacing each beam one by one. You can’t really tell by the picture but some of those beams are new and some are still charred and black. It’s actually helping a lot of the smoke smell decrease. This was also the first time we let Ruby back in the house. She was super confused! All the carpet was out now and really the work just being done on the kitchen. The huge bay windows are gone, actually all the windows are gone. I dont know if you can tell that by the picture. Some of the windows aren’t even covered and are exposed to the outside. I was a little nervous we would find a family of birds in the rafters or something!

The deck really hasn’t changed. They have all the wood up except for the outer rim of the deck. It’s just a huge hole pretty much. As for the rest of the house, it’s kind of hard to tell if they have been cleaning or not. Without the electricity we can’t turn the lights on in each room and its hard to tell if the smoke damage is still there or if they have started cleaning things like the bathroom sinks and showers and what not.

Needless to say I was very happy with the progress. I also realized there is no way we will be moving back in there in two weeks so we will be packing our bags and moving in with my mom. :) I can’t stand living in this hotel much longer! One thing for sure, Ruby will LOVE having a yard again! I am waiting very patiently to be asked to go shopping for new counter tops, paint, cabinets, knobs, and carpet…
